Some months ago when I first got into this whole e-cigarette thing, I bought a low priced starter kit. I didn’t really like it, it was very hard to puff on and the no nicotine in the cartridges didn’t help. I was reading testimonials from a lot of people that said they had successfully quit using these things. I decided to try another model, but instead of buying one I bought a ton and I tried several models. Then this site was born.
For the first couple of weeks I “vaped” during the day and at night I smoked cigarettes. Then I figured since I’m smoking anyway why bother vaping? I let it slide for a couple of months, and didn’t really vape much. Then one day I said to myself, “I have a lifetime supply of e-liquid and e-cigarettes and have read tons of testimonials of people that have succesfully quit using this, I have to give this a serious shot.” I either said that or just said to myself to really try.
Then I really gave it a try. I vaped constantly. I had an e-cigarette in my mouth just about all the time. The battery dies no problem I have a spare or I can switch to another model. Constantly refilling the e-liquid in my cartridges. Whatever it takes. This time I really did it. Yes I’ll admit the first two weeks I smoked 2 – 4 cigarettes a day (that’s down from a half a pack to a pack a day). While smoking I said to myself, “I don’t need this anymore I don’t even get the head rush I use to get after not smoking for a while.” So I stopped. No more stealing cigarettes from the wife.
I have “cheated”. In the last 2 weeks I’ve smoked, 4 cigarettes. Every time I smoke them I feel that there was no purpose since my body doesn’t really need it anymore (I guess it’s a mental thing). I don’t feel the same as I use to about them.
I’ll update this page every once in a while to say how my quest is going. So far so good. I feel better as a person, I don’t smell like cigarettes, I’m more active than I was. I didn’t quit due to any health problems, I did it to stop any potential future health problems (related to smoking).
Remember the e-cigarette isn’t FDA approved so I’m not making any claims by writing this, I’m just sharing my story.
Do you have a story? Feel free to share yours. Share your story so others can read it and than they can make an educated decision on whether this is right for them or not.
I got into trying e-cigs because my friend saw a co-worker using them at work and thought they would be an answer to our prayers. He also knew I needed some help quitting, as smoking real cigs was damaging my health.
The ones I first tried gave me trouble, They were hard to puff on and the batteries just wouldn’t charge up for me. I had to keep getting replacements all the time, and I was getting disgusted.
Then I tried the ones from cigarette replacer, and have been totally happy using them, since.
They puff as easy as a real cigarette, and the flavors are out of this world.
I became a 2-pack a day smoker about a year ago. I knew I had to quit, or at least cut down a lot, or I was going to need an iron lung soon.
Since I’ve been using my new e-cigs..I’ve been able cut myself down from those 2-packs a day, to only 1 pack. I know I’ll do even better, once I get used to using my e-cig more often, instead of reaching for the real ones again.
I don’t really crave the real ones, when I use my e-cigs often enough. I don’t really know why I bother to smoke them anymore. Probably because I have a good supply on hand, and I don’t want to waste my money.
Truthfully…I’d prefer to have a good supply of e-cigs on hand, so I’d only use them.
I’ve found that using them is really pleasurable. I don’t stink and neither does anything in my house.
Cashiers in stores, don’t tell me they smell cigs on me anymore. It was so embarrassing !! Most people have quit smoking the real things these days. It’s just the die hard addicts like me…and the kids, that are still doing it.
How was I to know when I started to smoke, that I would become an addict ? If I knew…I would’ve never started to smoke. Now I can safely and truthfully say…that I soon will be one of the non-smokers on this earth.
I find it enjoyable to be in my car using my e-cigs, instead of real ciggies. I can’t explain it really…Maybe it’s because I know I’m not poisoning myself ?
I tried the nicotine patches to quit, but they drove me crazy for some reason. Of course, I failed, and I kept smoking for many years. Until now.
Okay..so I still use real ciggies. But I don’t use them near as much as I was.
I cut down from a 2 pack a day habit, to only 1 pack a day. And this after only using my e-cigs for 2 weeks. It’s still heavy smoking, according my doctor, but I’m trying to totally stop soon. At least, I’m only smoking half as much as I was.
I love using my e-cigs. I had trouble with the first ones I got, so it took me awhile to find one I liked enough to stick with. I’ve found it, with cigarette replacer.com. They have so many choices of e-cigs, and many great flavors of liquid refill, I can’t go wrong. I’ve tried a few of them already, and I know I’ll be happy with what they sell. I save a lot of money using e-cigs, too. They barely cost me half of what I spent on real cigs.
I refill my cartridges as long as I can, to extend my order, and they keep on working.
I used to think this hype about e-cigs was just that…But now that I “vape” along with the best of them, I truly am a believer !!
I can honestly tell you, that I’ll be Vaping for a long time. When my real cigs run out, I’ll still have my e-cigs, and I know they’ll leave me satisfied, so I won’t need to go back to real smoking again.
Right now, since I’m fairly new to Vaping, I still have some fear about throwing away my real cigs. But once I use my e-cigs more regularly, I’m sure I’ll be able to give them up.
I have no side effects. Not like I did using the patches or gum. Plus…with my e-cigs, I have assorted flavors, I can puff on them all I want, just like a real ciggie, and I have something to hold in my hand and put into my mouth.
The best part..is that I’m not prone to putting more food in my mouth, when I don’t have a real ciggie in it. I have my e-cig to put there, and it satisfies that need 100%.
I have no fear of weight gain, by stopping smoking now. My e-cigs are great !!
If the FDA puts a stop to selling them, I’ll certainly be unhappy. I’ll also probably go right back to smoking the real things, and spending a fortune on them to boot.
My e-cigs allow me to visit my friends who live in a non-smoking building now. No need to chase me outside anymore.
My sister doesn’t have to banish me from her house, either. And I don’t have to feel guilty around my children.
My house doesn’t have to stink, nor do my clothes or breath. It’s wonderful to have my e-cigs !!
I even can choose different flavors if I want. I don’t have to taste the cigarette flavor if I don’t like it, and honestly…I don’t.
I almost feel like I’m puffing on candy cigarettes of the past. The only difference is..the e-cigs aren’t edible. So what. No calories !!
I recommend starting to use e-cigs, if you don’t want to be smelly & clog up your lungs anymore.
If smoking embarrasses you, or makes you feel uncomfortable at social gatherings…try e-cigs.
I don’t sell them myself. Nor do I personally know anyone who does. I just want more of you to be aware how good they are. They really do help you get off cigarettes. I’m living proof…And I’ve been a smoker for over 35 years.
Good luck quitting, and happy vaping everyone !!
Great story.
Part of my story is similar. I had cigarettes and didn’t want to throw them out. What I did was smoke them all and then stopped buying them. Having them in the first place is what really made me want to smoke, especially considering they’re $8 a pack. Then when I got even more into vaping I’d take them from my wife or bum them from friends. The main thing isn’t buying them.
Another thing that I did was I’d smoke a cigarette in the morning, then one after lunch, and then in the evening I’d smoke about 2 or 3 more. I was vaping in between all of the cigarettes by the way. Then one day I stopped the morning cigarette. A few days later I stopped the lunch time cigarette. Then a little after I stopped the evening one’s. I think the hardest one to get away from is the morning cigarette, if you can get away from that one, it becomes so much easier (at least for me).
That might help you, of course we are all different and have different smoking habits.
Another thing when I felt I needed a cigarette I’d put the e-cig in my mouth and just puff on it hanging from my lips (using no hands), and I’d take like 8 or 9 drags in a row and that seemed to calm me down. I’d inhale, open my mouth a little bit, exhale. When doing this make sure your cartridge is full, so you can get as much nicotine and vapor as possible. It seemed to satisfy my cravings and now I enjoy it.
I still crave the real one’s when I see a friend or someone I know smoking, but if I do the inhale several times in a few seconds trick I mentioned it calms me down.
About smelling like cigarettes. Every once in a while I’d notice my clothes smelled like them (as a smoker), but that was only if I sniffed them from up close. Last Friday I saw a friend of mine and now that my sinuses (I guess) are clearer I could smell the cigarette odor on him. Before I never smelled it. I thought that was great that I could now smell that odor on someone. People use to always tell me I stunk like cigarettes.
For the car e-cigs are great. I use to get soaked when it rained, freeze when it was cold, sweat when it was hot. Now I just vape with the windows closed, it’s summer now so the AC is pumping and I don’t have to worry about letting all of that hot air in. The same goes for not having to stand outside to smoke. Now no matter what the weather is I can be more comfortable knowing I don’t have to go outside for a smoke.
I’ve also tried the patch and gum with no success. My favorite part was taking the patch off for a little while and then lighting up the cigarette and my body getting tingly from the nicotine overload. The gum I just didn’t really care for. Who wants to have a piece of gum in their mouth they can’t really chew?
I’m embarrassed to say but since starting e-cigarettes I did have one bad side effect for the first couple of weeks…it was constipation. I’ve heard others say it gave them gas, others dry throat, others nothing, it all depends on the person.
Good luck and hopefully you’ll be down to no cigarettes soon.
I was very skeptical about the E-cigarette when I first heard about it. I figured it was a new fad or just a gimmick.
I will not comment on where I purchase my e-cig, only the experience.
I contacted a dealer that I found on the web, he was in my area. I wanted to talk one on one with someone, see the product and maybe even try it out. We set up an appointment for the next morning where I could go to see the e-cig.
I am a very skeptical person. I had been smoking two and a half packs a day for the past 32 years. I have tried patches, gums and pills. At one point even considered getting a shot that I had heard about. Nothing worked. Only, puff…puff…puff.
On the way to my appointment I smoked the last three cigarettes that I had in my pack, finishing the last one as I walked to the door of the establishment.
I sat down with the proprietor and he proceeded to tell me about the electronic cigarette. I listened to his pitch with interest and skepticism, steadily watching him take a random puff on the thing that he held in his hand. While he was explaining, he placed a new unit upon the table. He then proceeded to show me the parts of the unit and how to assemble it. Then he handed it to me…..
I already had it in my mind that I would be able to tell if this would work for me if I was able to try it out. I took a puff, and then another. After the third puff, I was sold.
I have now been smoke free for 4 weeks,6 days, 5 hrs and 26 min.
I have saved $394.08 and avoided 1,642 cigarettes.
I do admit that on occasion I have a (slight) craving, but I just pick up my e-cig and take a drag and the craving is gone. I was totally impressed with this new product. I only wish that someone would have came up with it years ago.
I no longer have morning coughing spells. I breath better and I have much more energy. My house, vehicle and clothing no longer smell of smoke. Never again will I pick up a real cigarette. The electronic cigarette has saved my life and added many more years to it, that would have been taken away by tobacco.
I strongly encourage anyone that smokes to try the electronic cigarette. just try it. It works. That is the honest truth. I have convinced quite a few of my friends to give it a try and they too have given up tobacco.
I am and will always be in awe of this device. Please, please for your health and for your family and friends, give the e-cig a go. You will not be disappointed.
Great story. There definitely is a big savings compared to cigarettes. The initial layout is higher than cigarettes, but when you break it down on a day to day basis, it’s much cheaper.
I’ve cut down to 16mg liquid in the last week and there was no difference. I’m vaping about the same amount as before, but the nicotine level is lower.
My plan is to cut back to lower nicotine levels every month or two until I’m off the nicotine completely.
I was in the hospital this year for the better part of two months and I was a heavy smoker. It was funny because I didn’t need any nicotine support while I was there (patches, gum etc never worked anyway) but when I got home, I was ready to chain smoke again. The Smoking Cessation team at the hospital said everyone’s smoking patterns were different and that I needed to figure out what else was going besides noctine addiction.
I had seen ads and articles about e cigarettes and was thinking of trying them. My son who doesn’t smoke, wouldn’t have to deal with second hand smoke and I wouldn’t freeze my backside off smoking outside in the winter. So I got a starter kit and haven’t had a tobacco cigarette since.
I have since figured out that I had a 45 year old habit of lighting up and just nicotine replacement didn’t help break THAT habit. Like I said, I don’t smoke now but still have to put lighters up (don’t laugh; that’s when I figured out the habit part; it is more than just smoking).
I found this sight and got interested in flavors. Now I can have some fun with e cigarettes.
Another positive is it’s very easy to switch flavors. I was a die hard Newport smoker and even if I had no cigarettes I wouldn’t smoke another brand (even if it was menthol). I’d just wait until I found a store and buy Newport’s.
When I started on the e-cigarettes I started with mint. The mint doesn’t taste like a menthol cigarette, but it definitely has a mint flavor. For a while I didn’t try any other flavor because I know I’m hard headed when it comes to switching cigarettes so I felt it would be the same for this. Then one day I tried another flavor, then another day I tried another, then another, and so on and so on. The flavors are very easy to change from one to the other and you don’t feel different or you don’t feel like you’re doing something different. I haven’t tried every flavor (on this site), but I’m working on it.
I also mix flavors. For example I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but I decided to try the coffee out. Of course since I don’t care for coffee I didn’t care for the flavor. I ended up mixing the coffee with chocolate and it tasted great.
I used to smoke about a pack a day. originally, when i first purchased my electronic cigarette (a much more EXPENSIVE version mind you UGH) I wasn’t completely satisfied, mostly from being uninformed of the resources online and the refillable liquids and so on. Once i purchased my first bottle of 36mg nicotine liquid (i know, a bit much to be honest, prob. prefer 24 at the most) my cigarette days have been over. I have not ‘officially’ had a cigarette in about 3 months and have ZERO withdrawal symptoms. Much cheaper. I took a hit off of someone’s cigarette after having quit for so long and it actually made me nauseated because of the awful taste. So i have successfully transferred my enjoyment to the e-cigarette instead of the natural cigarette. I am much happier, find that i use it less, as a mom i lost the fear of passing on the second-hand smoke that sticks to you whether you smoke around your family or not, i have even gotten my mother in to it, a 40+ years smoker and she loves it. I can’t guarantee the complete and total perfect safety of such a product, but i can definitely say there’s absolutely no way it’s killing people every moment of every day the way cigarettes do. This is the way to avoid COPD/emphysema and overall, i actually FEEL physically better. No smoker’s hack. no phlegm. my husband actually will sit next to me without gagging, hahaha. I sit in front of smokers smoking cigarettes and have zero urge for a cigarette anymore. It’s worth it. I am totally 100% satisfied, but i just wish i could find a better model. the one i purchased (not from here) was probably double or more the price and i constantly have issues with ONLY the batteries. One battery acts like it’s dying constantly even though all i have to do is take it apart and put it back together for it to work, and the other you have to pull as if you’re attempting to cyphen gas from a tank. lol … i dont know what product will give me exactly what i want, if anyone could recommend / guarantee one, it would be great: battery life of a “whole day” (morning to evening), Full thick vapor and doesnt need to be replaced every 2 weeks!
bye!
Another great story.
To be honest with you no model will last you a full day unless you get a modded battery. A modded battery is basically a rechargeable battery placed into some kind of container that can hold an atomizer. They are more expensive than regular kits, but they use standard atomizers and cartridges. They also look a lot different than e-cigarettes. They’re larger, but they do produce more vapor due to the higher voltage produced.
All of the models on here with exception to the economico are very good models. I’ve had batteries go bad on me in a couple of days, but I have some selecto and elegante batteries that have been good for over three months each (as well as atomizers). The selecto is better for thicker vapor and more throat hit, but the elegante uses less liquid and does produce decent vapor and throat hit and the battery lasts much longer than most other models.
I forgot to mention, you can get a USB passthrough if you’re next to a computer all day and it will keep you going as long as you have it connected to the computer. You can also have a passthrough and buy an AC/car adapter and run it off of those power sources.
I should have explored this site a little further – earlier; there’s some good stuff here.
I’m approaching the 90 day mark without a cigarette. After more than 30 years, I find myself abhorring the smell of cigarette smoke – and have absolutely NO desire to smoke one. I had about 6 packs of smokes left when I decided I was through with them in favor of the e-cig. It only took me about 2 weeks once I decided to earnestly pursue the smoking alternative.
After just a few days, I noticed improvement in my sense of taste and smell – after about a month, I was able to scale the stairs at work and not be huffin and puffin.
I too was vaping pretty much non stop for the first couple of months; wasn’t without one, no matter where I went. I even bought 2 usb pass through devices so I didn’t have to think about the batteries – now, I rarely use them, and can go probably 7 hours on 1 battery. I use the M401 (stainless steel model) and am very pleased with it.
I introduced my sister to vaping as well, and she has been cigarette free for probably 2 months – and is a devout “vaper” as well.
I have to say – C.R. is one of the very best sites for product; but more importantly – the service. Nice job – it’s greatly appreciated.
I agree with Vince that CR is one of the best sites to handle my needs for E-cigarettes. The service and attention is the best ever, and I receive my order very quickly. No waiting in desperation for me…and when I need them, they are there.
It didn’t take me long to find them, though. CR was my 2nd hit, so I got lucky right away.
The only thing I’ve noticed about CR that differs from most other sites…is that CR only puts one battery in their kits. (Therefore, the lower price )
However, it’s well worth it, because they usually include a sample of some kind, which covers the price of another battery, and the cheaper price of CR’s kits, help people who can’t afford to throw out too much money at first to get started with vaping.
It’s a good thing, really…So if you think your getting jipped..Think again..Your not.
CR’s prices on other things are well in line with everybody else’s.
( I’ve checked) I’ve found that CR’s liquids are a bit cheaper to buy. And the cartridges are too.
Now…with all of their additional products, I know I can keep pretty busy using CR. WTG CR !! Keep up the good work.
This is my story
I started to smoke 47 years ago. My whole family smoked and I got married to an smoker. My daughter did not like to see me smoking and I tried to give the cigs up with hypnosis, patches, gum, lozenges and pills and it did not work. The truth is I started to smoke more. I was up to 2 to 3 packs a day.
Five weeks ago I found an article about e-cigs. I bought a starter kit, an extra battary and extra cartidges just in case. The day I started to vap I stoped smoking. I still cannot believe it myself. I have not had a cigarette in five week.
I’ve been smoking for 18 years, half of my life. Couldn’t quit for anything…always failed every time I tried. I’ve been vaping now for 2 weeks and am happy to say I haven’t smoked a regular cigarette since I started the e-cig. My mom was so impressed to hear how well I am doing, that she asked me to order some kits for herself and my dad, who have both been smoking for 30+ years. I’m hoping to cut the nicotine out altogether after a couple weeks/months.
I do have one question for those refilling cartridges:
It’s stated that nicotine is poisonous and dangerous if absorbed into the skin, especially for children and small pets. If I were to invest in nicotine liquid, should I wear gloves when refilling, so I don’t accidentally spill on myself and get an overdose of nicotine?
You shouldn’t have a problem. If some spills on you, you just wash your hands or where ever it lands. Remember what you buy isn’t 100% pure nicotine, it’s more propylene glycol than anything else. It’s still a good practice to wash your hands if you spill any on yourself, although anything you spill will probably be very minimal. Also when you refill or use cartridges you’ll notice sometimes the liquid goes in your mouth, it’s no cause for alarm, since the quantities you actually swallow are so low.
For kids and pets that’s a whole other story since their bodies aren’t use to absorbing nicotine. Keep it away from them. I have an almost 5 year old son and he doesn’t mess with any of my stuff. I tell him it’s poison and he leaves it alone.
LOL David!!!!
Well I just ordered my first e-cig and am hoping to get off the real ones.
I hope to graatly improve my health & save money. Even though I am only spending about $26 per carton for real cigs at cheap-cigarette-city.com the ecigs will still be alot cheaper.
Thank you to all of you for some additional inspiration! I’ll keep you updated.
Well Debbie,
I have to tell you that I also only pay around $26. per carton for real cigs, and that’s why it was hard for me to give them up too fast at first. I had a bunch of stock in my house.
I’ve noticed tho, when I buy my e-cigs and the refills of things I need for them along the way, they still come out costing me much less than the real ones did.
Keep on plugging with your e-cigs. I think you’ll find it easier to quit the real ones week by week, and once you run out of your supply of them, and make up your mind that you want to feel healthy again….you will give them up.
What you should do….is keep a good supply of spare parts and liquid on hand for your e-cigs. I like to keep at least one spare battery and a spare atomizer or two, along with extra liquids and a bunch of filters.
I’ve also just purchased the stuff to make my own liquids too. Giving it a shot to save even more money.
You don’t want to run out of equipment and fall back on smoking the real ones again. Your lungs will thank you Debbie….and so will your pocketbook.
I coughed out a lot of gunk, after I switched to vaping. It feels good.
Good Luck And Happy Saving !!
I’ve been reading the stories and wanted to share my success. I was a 2 pk/day smoker for 30 years. On April 28, I received my e cig. and I haven’t had a tobacco cig. since. I had absolutely NO trouble with the transition. I have had NO desire for a tobacco cig. So I’m in my 7th month of not smoking. I just ordered my first pass through, because I go through 3-4 batteries per day – it’s not a problem, as long as you have an inventory. I absolutely love it. Like some of the others, I was able to tell within about 3 days the difference in my ability to smell, I no longer use nose spray (2-3 times per day before)and I no longer need allergy medication. I could tell the difference in my breathing that quickly too.Two of the biggest lessons I’ve learned: 1. I was addicted to nicotine – not tobacco. 2. I now know why ex smokers are the worst non-smokers – I hate the smell of tobacco cigarettes – some actually make me sick to my stomach! Congratulations to all that have kicked the tobacco habit.
The first e cig a bought is from a company called Cigotine. The company which produces the e cig is based in Rhode Island and has a booth now in two Malls. The product is expensive but good.
Customer service could not be better.
I live in Massachusetts and recently they opened a booth in one of the Massacusetts Malls only 15 minutes away from me.
I smmoked for 47 years, I started when I was 13 years old. I bought my first e cig 3 month ago, and stopped smoking Analog cigs the same day. Now I refill the cartridges with ejuice and save even more money. Cigotine carts are 15 dollars for 5.
I would not go without my ecigs, everybody in my family is a non smoker and I finally don’t need to listen to the “none smoker” comments anymore
It’s been a while since I last posted, so thought I’d put another of my 2 cents in.
I’ve now graduated up to a mod. Wow-eeee…these things are fun !!
I 1st got the black box mod, n’ I LOVE it !! I get so much vapor out of it, I can’t tell U how great it is.
Then I got the Replacer ll. The silver one that comes in a kit. That’s cool too…But I have to be honest. Altho this thing is very pretty…it’s also heavy in your hands, and can be slippery !! It vapes very great too, but when I’m half asleep….it falls out of my hand. lol
U see…that’s another benefit of vaping over real cigs. U won’t be starting any fires in bed if U fall asleep with it !!
I’d recommend either one, if U like extra vapor. Personally, I prefer the black box, now that I’ve tried the other one for a while. The benefit with the black box mod, is that it doesn’t start blinking off like the other ones do, so U can continue vaping as long as U want. The Replacer ll, vapes pretty long before it blinks too.
The black box mod does a nice job of cleaning out your old atomizers for U too. It helps burn the crud out.
These mods do use extra juice tho, so expect it. It isn’t that much, so don’t be afraid your gonna run out too fast. U just have to refill your carts a little sooner than your regular type batteries.
Well…that’s my 2 cents worth. Hope U all take a try at Dave’s mods. I’m almost ready to add to my collection.
I have my other batteries too, n’ I still use them. They look nicer in public than the mods, so they are still very useful.
Greatest invention since sliced bread. Keep up the good work Dave !!
Myself a 2 pack a day, 40+ years smoker with asthma, slowly killing myself and going broke, till I discovered the e cigarette. I got a 2 piece system with the cartomizers. The cost of the cartridges were 11.99 for a 5 pack with free shipping. Still MUCH less than real smokes. My friend sawed one in half and then we started experimenting till we figured out how to fill our own and now we save even more $$’s doing this. I have to say I also tried the patches, hypnosis, gum etc, with no luck. The moment I puffed on the e cigarette, I have not craved or even wanted a real cigarette. These have satisfied my addiction and the hand to mouth :habit: that is so hard to break. I have been tobacco free for nearly 3 months. My inhalers and nebulizer has rarely been used, I smell things I couldn’t before (Ugh, the nasty perfumes people bath in which DOES make me wheeze), and food tastes better. Now I smell stale smoke on other smokers, and it is unpleasant. I still have a half a pack of real cigs in my freezer, but there is no desire AT ALL for them. I am not a “reformed” smoker, I still allow visitors to smoke in my home, but I have gotten my daughter to try them. As nurses, we are finding that they are starting to implement testing prospective employees for smoking and will not hire, which I think is a violation of our rights. I don’t know if the e cig will help or hinder a nurse’s employment opportunities or not, but I sense a huge battle with the FDA, and insurance companies and the big tobacco companies. I think all of us “vapers” best stock up on batteries and liquid (kept refrigerated is good for 2 years) if we want to keep vaping till the dust settles…..
The only side effects I have noticed was some mild gas and bloating early on, and my throat is dry and a little hoarse. But it is winter here, also. I did not experience the coughing up of “gunk” as everyone states they get after quitting tobacco, and I wonder why not, as that IS supposed to happen. Oh well, I still feel it is a healthier alternative to tobacco until it is PROVEN otherwise. My doctor even agrees my lungs sound better and hopes I don’t pick up a real smoke again. I promise I won’t unless the government forces me to.
Great story. I love stories about people quitting or cutting back. Of course the quitting are my favorite one’s.
As for the testing at hospitals and other companies, you will probably fail the test. Usually the only test they do is for nicotine so even if you were on the patch they would discriminate you. Right now cigarette smokers and nicotine users in general aren’t a protected class so they have the legal right to discriminate against you. It’s a shame that this is happening. I’ve heard of people not getting hired because of this. The companies basically blame the insurance companies for giving them higher rates for smokers.
I had a life insurance exam a few months back and told them I wasn’t a smoker, but they only test for nicotine so if you’re positive for nicotine (which I was) you get the smokers rates. Long story short my premium was changed to a smokers premium and I pay more money for insurance. Now I have to wait two years until I qualify for non-smokers rates.
That really stinks, Dave. Ya should’ve gone on your no nic juice a month before your test. Maybe ya wouldn’t have shown up as being a smoker, then ?
The insurance companies really get ya by the ca-honies, don’t they ?
And for the “vapers” who may be applying for jobs, they should use the no-nic juice right before their tests. Maybe they’ll pass it that way.
( I hope )
I agree that it isn’t fair that smokers have no protection. It wasn’t us that got us addicted. We didn’t know it was addictive when we started smoking.
These lawmakers have got to make things a bit more fair for us long term smokers, who started a long time ago.
For the teens that are smoking now, the new laws are good. I hope it prevents them from staying addicted and from suffering what we grew into, over the long term. Asthma, chronic bronchitis Emphysema, COPD, etc.
Ya know…I walked into my kitchen the other day, and my friend was smoking in there. (his new, indoor safe spot)
I hope he knows he’s gonna hafta re-paint in there soon because of this. And Man….did it stink in there !!
Can’t wait ’til we’ve completely stopped the real ones, so I don’t have to do that again.
I think he should smoke in the basement & open the window down there when he does. It’s better than freezing outside to smoke.
Unfortunately, I think my nose has a ways to go yet, before I’ll be smelling or tasting things better. Sinus trouble blows that advantage a bit.
But I’ve noticed my clothes don’t smell so bad….and people in the stores don’t instantly know I just had a smoke. ( cause I didn’t ), so that helps…and encourages me more to keep on truckin’ !!
I have been smoke free for 21 days and I am so proud of myself. I smoked for 40 plus yrs. I have asthma from neuro-toxic mold exposure. I noticed that the past year I was always congested. I saw a girl smoking an e-cig on the train when I work and she gave me a spare e-cig and charger to use. I didnt like that particular brand, but went online to see what was available. I purchased greensmoke, blu and smoketip. I have to admit, greensmoke taste like a real cig and the vapor is great…Blu is okay, but the taste could be improved. I heard that a new company is merging with blu to improve the taste. Smoketip is pretty nice and I think it has the KR808D-1 battery, so I just ordered the DSE901 atomizer….is that all I need? Well anyway, I am so glad I quit. I can breathe and I dont cough anymore. Are there better e-cigs out there? I just ordered some fillable cartridges for the smoketip to see if I can smoke even cheaper. I have 3 usb cigs due to the charge time of all my batteries. I am so determined never to go back to smoking
I forgot to say that I am glad I found this site because I was able to learn new things about e-cigs. I thank God I found e-cigarettes, because I tried to quit so many times and I was headed for some major lung problems.. I have a question..I smoke e-cigs alot….can you harm yourself from over smoking them? I’m sure I will cut down, but its hard to tell when you have had enough drags to equal a cigarette. A regular cigarette burns down and your know your finished…I wish someone would invent a warning signal to let you know you had enough or equal to one regular smoke.
Its me again….sorry
Does anyone know if you can refill a greensmoke cartridge? It looks similar to the ones in the video. Has anyone ever tried?
Hello Sharon:
Sorry for not responding sooner. Great that you’ve stopped smoking. Keep up the good work.
Now onto your questions. If the SmokeTip is a KR808D-1 than the DSE901 atomizer should work fine with it. That would be all you need except for maybe cartridges. If you have liquid already you can drip it directly onto the atomizer and use the cartridge that comes with it so you don’t get burnt.
As far as how much is enough. That’s a tough question and I can’t give you a real answer except that I have one stuck to my lip pretty much all day. If you’ve had enough your body will probably tell you to stop. You will probably get nauseous when you’ve hit your limit. It happens to me every once in a while. Especially when I cut to a lower strength and then go back up in strength.
I actually had a couple of greensmoke cartridges (cartomizers) and they can be filled the same way as the KR808D-1 cartomizers. http://cigarettereplacer.com/how-to-refill-an-e-cig-cartomizer/ . There is going to be another video added with a better way to refill cartomizers soon.
Oh my, Got my supplies today and I really like refilling it myself. I find all cartomizers to be a little weak tasting, except for the greensmoke carts….I wonder who makes theirs? Well I had tons of carts to fit my batteries. So far I have 2 vapor King, long batteries, just got your manuel battery (like it) and 2 smoke tips which are all the same batteries. The only different one’s are my Blu and my greensmoke. I think I have enough. I like having them all on me according to what mood I’m in and what I like to smoke. So far the KR808d-1 I think is a great battery. I think I’m turning into a vapor monster… Thanks for answering

You know what would be outragious…for someone to find out who does make the greensmoke carts and have them made made to fit the KR808…..
I dont know if you have ever smoked the greensmoke cart in tobacco, strawberry or vanilla, but its unbelievable tasting, with tons of vapor…It would knock them out from being #1
Just an idea…

I’ve tried the greensmoke once and it blew decent vapor. I’ve heard reviews that the KR808D-1 has more of a kick to it, but not as much vapor compared to it. Personally the 901 is my favorite and the 510 comes in second place. Everyone has different tastes when it comes to their preferred model as well as the liquids.
I agree about the 901…I am going thru my atomizers pretty fast, maybe I am overfilling or something. So far I am still smoke free, but last weekend I did cheat and bummed a smoke from my room mate. I really didnt get anything from it and actually missed the taste of my e-cigs…they do taste better. I wish e-cigs were advertised in magazines…so many smokers do not even know they exists..I am constantly giving demonstrations on my train, trying to get others to try e-smoking.
Just leaving a note for Sharon if U see it. About using up a lot of atomizers.
I also started needing to replace a lot of atomizers. I found that if U blow them out from both ends, into a tissue every week & get the extra juice out of them, they supply U with better vapor & don’t die so fast.
I also tried the U-tube “soaking” methods to clean them, but it didn’t really work that well for me.
I even think it made them worse sometimes.
Cleaning ur atomizers is also a good reason to own a mod, so U can attach your old atomizers & burn out the gunk to get them going again.
This is another method that works well.
That’s the only other way I found to get them clean & working again..
I also love my KR-808-1D’s. Did I type that right ? Oh well..U know what I mean. lol
I love the long battery life & the manual ones R great !! I’ve switched most of my batteries to manual now, but I still have some good old auto ones hangin’ in there too.
I also love my mods. I have 2 different ones, but I recently melted my favorite one of them. (boo-hoo)
I forgot to turn it off & had it in my pocket when I laid down to take a nap.
(I don’t recommend doing this)
Well…I woke up feeling a burning on my side & found it was my mod, that had been melting in my pocket.
I haven’t buried it yet. I’m very attached to it. lol
Gonna hafta ask Dave to dig out one if he has any left, coz I don’t see ‘em on site anymore. ( n’ this mod was my favorite one.) Still have my other mod tho, so it isn’t too bad.
Keep up the good work Sharon. It’s hard to quit, for us old time smokers. Thank God (& Dave) we have our E-cigs to help !!
@Joanie:
therefore I skipped through all remaining ones and read yours, the last one. My question (it may have been answered already, who knows) is what exactly is a “mod”? How is it beneficial, please?
One thing I need help with is when/how/what to use for re-filling my cartridges? Cotton? Pollyfiber? Teabags? Please tell me what would work best for a semi “idiot” (sic) beginner in the e-cigs world! No analog cigs yet in the last 2 weeks (except 2 packs over the last weekend when I went camping and did not have my e-cigs with me). Any advice for a beginner idiot would be highly appreciated! (David, please step in
I read so many comments (starting with the firs one on this site) that I found myself well into the night/morning hours
Anyway, I am a 2 week old e-cig smoker, so very happy with my Joye 510 starter pack
A mod more than anything means better battery life and usually means you can buy cheaper batteries (at other places that aren’t related to e-cigarettes, you pay a premium at the end of the day to get an e-cigarette designed/compatible battery). I haven’t refilled a cartridge in several months I actually just keep throwing liquid on top of my cartridges until they aren’t working too well, but most people use polyester fiber. You can get a cheap flammable pillow or non-treated pillow and/or just the filling for under $5 at Walmart which should me more than a lifetime supply. Worst case scenario when you order add a note that says something like, “Throw in some poly fill,” and we’ll throw some in with your order.
